The Lake Tahoe Rent Methodology Study is available for review. More information on the study and details on an upcoming virtual town hall meeting are below.

Lake Tahoe Rent Methodology Study

The Commission retained an appraiser to review the rent methodology it uses for use and occupation of state lands at Lake Tahoe and Donner Lake. The Commission is also updating its 2012 Category 1 Lake Tahoe Berths and buoys benchmark rental rates and establishing a Category 2 Lake Tahoe benchmark rental rate for non-water dependent uses. These rates are used to determine rent or other compensation as part of a lease with the Commission for the occupation and use of state-owned land in Lake Tahoe and Donner Lake. The study provides an independent, third-party evaluation of various rent methodologies and recommends a rent-setting methodology and benchmark rates going forward.

Commission staff will host a virtual town hall on Tuesday, November 10, at 10:00 a.m. to discuss the study. Information on how to join the meeting will be available on our website 2-3 days before the date. Note that the time is subject to change, so please check our website to confirm.

At the meeting, the appraiser will summarize the study and receive public comment but may be unable to respond to all comments during the meeting. The public comment time may be limited based on the number of participants. We encourage you to submit written comments by email to TahoeRentStudy@slc.ca.gov or by mail to:
