AT&T Japan-U.S. Cable Network Decommissioning (JUS S8 and JUS S9 Cables)

On April 23, the Commission released a draft Mitigated Negative Declaration for public comment. AT&T Enterprises, LLC proposes to remove two fiber optic cable segments from the seafloor (JUS S8 and JUS S9) that are no longer in service and are offshore of San Luis Obispo and Mendocino Counties. The Commission, as the lead agency under the California Environmental Quality Act, has prepared a draft Mitigated Negative Declaration that is available for public comment beginning April 23. Public comments are due by Friday, May 22, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. Public comments can be sent electronically to CEQA.comments@slc.ca.gov. More information about how to comment is in the Notice of Intent
