April 26, 2022 Meeting Highlights
April marked the Commission’s first hybrid meeting where the public participated both in-person (in the City of Goleta) and virtually. It also marked the first meeting that included two site visits, which were to the Rincon Island and Piers 421 oil and gas decommissioning project sites. The Commission expressed its gratitude to the City of Goleta for hosting the Commission and to Mayor Paula Perotte for welcoming the Commission.

December 08, 2021 Meeting Highlights

Commission Chair Lieutenant Governor Kounalakis reflected on the Commission’s key achievements this past year, including adopting a new five-year strategic plan to guide the Commission’s work through 2025. The Chair also acknowledged the Commission’s ongoing evolution and productiveness during these unprecedentedly challenging times.

August 25, 2021 Meeting Highlights
The Commission held its August meeting virtually. The staff reports and comment letters associated with our meeting are available in our Archives. The Executive Officer’s report with updates and links to supplementary materials for a wide array of activities and projects is also available. Of particular note are updates about significant oil and gas decommissioning projects in the Santa Barbara Channel and the status of efforts to create a Hollister Ranch public access program. The Executive Officer also reported that the well plug and abandonment work at Platform Holly in Santa Barbara County, which has been in abeyance this past year and a half because of the pandemic, is anticipated to resume in the next few weeks.
